YOUR COMFORT OR HIS PURPOSE?

Isaiah6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

We are familiar with the story of Jonah. God sent him to Nineveh but he boarded a ship going to Tarshish. He left his assignment for what he felt was convenient. We all know how the story ended. Another biblical example is the early church. In Acts 1:8, Jesus told them that they would be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth but they stayed in Jerusalem, their comfort zone, instead of spreading out to witness the gospel in other places. For God's purpose to be achieved, He allowed persecution: "... A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria."Acts8:1 NLT

It was when they were forced out of their comfort zone that they spread out and preached the message every where. In my opinion, the persecution that forced them out of Jerusalem may not have been God's perfect method for making them spread the gospel to other places. However, God permitted it for His will to be done. One of the major challenges that prevent us from entering into the plans and purpose of God for our lives is because we cherish our convenience more than the assignment. There are many believers with a clear call into ministry but when they weigh their assignment against their convenience/ comfort, they delay or pend their obedience. Almost every now and then, I meet people with unique and wonderful assignments. Their conviction is so strong but they develop cold feet because they don't want to leave their comfort zone.

One of the dangers of delayed obedience is that it can open you up for the onslaught of the enemy. Delayed obedience is akin to breaking the edge of protection around your life. The bible says, "... and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him." Eccl10:8. When God send you on an errand, His assignment is the priority not your convenience. It is high time our generation had known that. God's priority is not your convenience when His work is left undone. The latter should come first before the former. Jesus left His comfort zone( Heaven) to fulfill God's purpose on earth. What do you think would have happened to us if he hadn't come? The destinies of multitude is tied to your obedience. Failure to act, you'll be destroying the lives of many. In what areas have you considered your comfort above His assignment/ purpose?

Action point

Father, I'm willing to obey. Help me in Jesus name.
