Psalms42:1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
Our generation is a generation of several "fasts." We have fast food, fast lane, fast cash schemes, fast internet speed and a host of others. We're in a hurry to get things done. Getting things done fast has crept into our spiritual lives and walk with God unknowingly. We want a church service that'll be fast not minding whether the Spirit of God moves as He wills. In our prayer and word study time, we want it so quick so that we can catch up with the bus or train yet when we watch football or our favourite movies, we do not want to miss a single action. I laugh at what some persons call "Prayer life". Hooking up with a prayer program on t.v., radio, online or getting someone to pray for you regularly is not in anyway the definition of a virile prayer life. Those things can be an addition but not a substitute for getting personal with God.
These are times of great spiritual laziness and coldness where people have substituted deep fellowship with God with seeking after men of God instead of seeking the God of the man they are running after. Some have a weird idea that God can only be found on the prayer mountain. I use to have the mentality of looking out for the day one of the great men of God i admire would lay hands on me for great impartation but now i know better. You can't get all that God has endowed a man with through consistency in the place of private fellowship by simply getting his hands laid on you. No short cut to that. In the kingdom, we must climb the ladder of fellowship daily till we see God in glory. You may wait in vain if you're waiting for the day someone will impart you. It may never happen. God made it clear to me that He is always available for me if i am available for Him. That's profound. I am not against impartation but we must be careful not to neglect quality fellowship with God in search for men. What does it mean to be available for God? It simply means to have time to fellowship with Him.
To explain fellowship better, think about the intimacy that husband and wife share. If you meet happy couples, they must have related to a point where they can predict each other's action. In fact, some couples start resembling one another after years of fellowshiping together. What do you think will happen when the same happens between you and God? So many desire to be like Jesus but do not want to spend quality time with Jesus. It doesn't work like that. Stop looking for quick fix fellowship. Get personal with God and have time for Him. Your life of prayer and word study must be consistent. Cultivate and practice His presence. Don't wait till you get to the kind of spiritual atmosphere that stirs you, create it anywhere you find yourself. Your kitchen, bathroom, toilet, car, can be places where you'll enjoy sweet fellowship with the most high. Your heart must be filled with songs of praise and live with a consciousness of God and eternal realities all day. That is true fellowship.
Father, envelope me with the beauty of your presence as i fellowship with you In Jesus name.
