2Kings5:2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”
It is common for bosses to look down on gate men, drivers, maids and servants as persons without knowledge and ideas. Most of our movies in this part of the world also portray them as funny characters who knows nothing and without ideas whereas in real life, it is not so. Some persons just believe that anyone that is lower in status knows nothing and amount to nothing. Naaman almost missed his healing because of this attitude.
l'lI suggest the story of Naaman be read by every man or woman that is highly placed. Naaman was leprous though he was a commander of the Aramean army. His house help suggested to him that he should go and see Prophet Elisha for healing. He must have struggled with that idea especially because of who suggested it to him but he obliged. Thank God he did. He may have died a leper if he hadn't listened to his house girl.
Elisha instructed him to bathe in Jordan river seven time. This got him angry. He expected Elisha to pray and strike the place where the leprosy was for healing but Elisha didn't. There's another lesson for us there. God may choose not to move in ways we expect. This account for one of the reasons we don't see or experience the supernatural like the days of old. While His principles remain unchanging, His method may change. Don't box God. Surprisingly, this army general consulted his house maid on the matter and she was instrumental to his healing. What if Naaman had looked down on her as ordinary? He may die a leprous army general. Those we see as ordinary sometimes can be very useful as links to the top. An ordinary clerk in an office could be pivotal to helping you win that contract you're bidding for. Stop acting like the landlord of the world. Be nice to people regardless of their status.
Some men haven't made much progress in life because they believe their wives know nothing. Some men believe women are blockheads who know nothing. Men in this category prefer to consult with beer guzzling friends for counsel. Many men would have made progress in life save for the fact that they refused to listen to wise counsel ffrom their wives. Haman looked down on Modecai as an ordinary gate keeper. He wanted Mr Modecai to bow but the table turned. The same gate keeper became so influential in the city and Haman publicized him around town. One of the test of our Christianity is to check how we handle our employees and junior staff or colleagues at work. There is no rule that says your driver or cleaner at work cannot advise you. You need to be open for interraction especially with ordinary people. Treat them well. Even little children can supply the extra information you need to make you extra ordinary. Those you see as little matter alot if you will make progress in life.
Father, I receive the grace to esteem all men. Help me to see people through your eyes In Jesus name
