HOW TO SEE THE VISIONS OF GOD

July 01, 2022 · Lanre Oyeleke · 4 views

Ezekiel1:1 On July 31 of my thirtieth year, while I was with the Judean exiles beside the Kebar River in Babylon, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God. NLT

Several years ago, I was a lover of anything that have to do with "motivational books". In all the motivational books and talks, I noticed one recurring theme, vision. However, they limit vision to a mental picture of the future. Most of those motivational talks comes with statements like: "If you can't see it, you can't get it" or "The vision you can't picture you will never feature". To some extent, these are truisms. Till date, there is so much emphasis on 'vision'. Motivational preachers preach it and even unbelievers also talk about it. Virtually everyone has heard or read about having a vision for one's life and that's good however when vision is limited to a mental or psychological imaginative exercise, we distort so many things in God's plan for our lives. Unbelievers can imagine as well. There should be something more. A believer shouldn't live by imagination alone but by insight into God's plans and purpose. In the opening text, I love the way Ezekiel puts it: "...the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God."

There are man- made vision and there are God-given visions. Man- made vision requires using your imaginative faculties to create a mental picture of what you desire but God-given vision is a divine insight into God's plans and purpose for one's life. In the school of flesh and human psychology that some are preaching today, emphasis on seeing into God's mind and fulfilling His will for our lives is almost non-existent. Men of old that we read about didn't just create a mental picture of their desires. They saw into God's mind and received a blue print for their lives. Listen to Paul, “So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven"(Acts 26:19). Paul's life was driven by the heavenly vision he saw not self ambition. In most cases, what people call vision is self-concocted and ego driven not heavenly. I call that ambition because it was cooked-up in their minds. When God reveal His mind to you about what he want you to do, then you are seeing the vision of God and not yours. It is better to run with God's vision for your life. If you'll imagine anything at all, it should be centred on what the Spirit of God reveal.

How do you see God's vision for your life? Let's see how John the beloved connected with the realm of the divine: "I WAS IN THE SPIRIT on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,"(Rev 1:10 KJV). There's no other way to see the visions of God other than to be in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the revealer of God's mind. With Him, you can have insight into God's mind for the now and future. You don't need to be a prophet to see what God wants you to see, you only need to be in the Spirit. When walk in the Spirit, we'll have insights into spiritual things. When we walk in the flesh, we can't see the things of God even from His word. A daily walk in the Spirit positions us to see beyond the realms of human.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to walk in the Spirit so that my eyes can see the visions of God In Jesus name. Amen
