JUST ONCE MORE

Judges16:28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”

I am not unaware of some persons who have great assignments but failed God and probably are on God's replacement list. They sense greatly that God is already shopping for their replacement even when they're not dead. King Saul was in this category and to say such persons doesn't exist is to deny the obvious. I have a message of hope for people in that category. It is not over yet as long as you're alive. To be restored to your assignment, you need to do what Samson did. I discovered that when Saul failed God and stirred His anger, he didn't ask for another chance to to continue his assignment though he pleaded for forgiveness quite alright (1 Sam15:24-31). He failed to take advantage of the mercy of God that was available. When Samuel accused him of sparing sheep, goats and king Agag, he gave excuses instead of him to beg for God's mercy. The happenings around his life made God to stand on his decision to replace him without changing his mind.

Samson was another man that failed God and was disgraced but he did something that Saul failed to do. In Judges16:28, he asked God to give him the last chance to fulfil destiny when he held the pillars of the hall where sport was made of him: "Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me JUST ONCE MORE, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” The import of that request has a direct impact on his yet unfulfilled assignment. God granted that prayer and he killed more Philistines(an enemy nation) at once in his death than when he was alive. Though the road was rough for him but his assignment of judging Israel as a warrior who was to deal with the Philistines was fulfilled. He crossed the finish line albeit in a battered state though avoidable.

God is not just the God of one more chance but He's the God of another chance, that chance could be one or more depending on His sovereignty. I watched a film where a man asked for one more chance to right his wrongs and accept Jesus. He was in a dream. God in His mercy granted his request. God is merciful. I don't want you to lose sight of that. If today's devotional has ministered to you, it may be God giving you another chance to right your wrongs and re launch you into destiny. Saul failed to ask God for another chance like Samson did, he forgot that God is plenteous in mercy but Samson took advantage of it. Just once more; God is reaching out to you.

Action point

Father, i realise you still love me and you're not willing to replace me in destiny. Show me mercy and give me another chance In Jesus name.
