Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” NIV

I STARTED FOLLOWING GOD TO AN UNKNOWN DESTINATION

I use to be very ambitious. I use to have my own goals and my personally coined vision for life which makes my ambitious drive to be on the high. No thanks to motivational speakers whom I listened to. I wanted to be on top of my own game that was why i studied very hard in the university to make a first class and i did by God's grace yet I knew God had a different path for my life, an uncommon one. Though I sensed a strong call into ministry and I didn't object to it yet I wanted to do ministry my own way because I didn't want my personal ambitions to be tampered with but I came to the place of surrender. It was then God interrupted my plans and self ambition for His glory to be made manifest in my life. He led me on a different journey and I began to follow him to a destination which I don't know but known to him alone. Till now, i'm still following Him daily on that journey but is becoming clearer each passing day. Dec 9th, 2011, I stepped out into field ministry in obedience to His command.

Today, the journey is 10 years and we're still counting. Just like yesterday. For ambitious men who carry God's mandate to reach the nations, there will be a struggle between following God's plan for your life and the pursuit of self ambition. The latter seems good and most times it is for our ego but the former serves an eternal purpose that will strike a chord in eternity. The path of self ambition will kill and destroy every good plan of God for your life no matter how attractive it is. If you truly mean to follow God and His plans for your life( which is the best), you must rid yourself of personal ambitions and surrender to Him to be used of Him just the way He desires. You may look stupid and foolish to many who think you're whiling away your productive years but if you're employed in the service of the most high, you're investing time in the most profitable service. If God is calling you into the ministry, don't hesitate to obey. The deliverance of many is tied to your obedience.

Every man under God's employ is like Abraham who obeyed God to come out of self ambition to follow on a journey with a destination fully known to divinity. After Abraham obeyed God, in a vision God appeared to him: "After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I AM YOUR SHIELD, YOUR VERY GREAT REWARD", Genesis 15:1. Today, I speak not as a man that has reached the peak of his calling. Just like Paul, I've chosen to forget the pains and struggles of the past and I'm pressing towards the mark of my high calling in Jesus. The journey ahead is still far, farther than where we started. I'm still committed to following Him to that unknown destination that is fully known to Him. Until we win all the lost earmarked for us and build the saints God has prepared for us, we will keep pressing on. We're still far from the finish line.

Action point

Today is our 10th anniversary, we adjudge Him faithful. Thank God for our ministry, the impact among the unreached and unsaved around the world. Pray that we shall not be distracted on this journey and that we shall fulfill our mandate.
