Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. KJV
CHANGE COMPANY
The story of an eaglet born in an eyrie close to a poultry illustrate today's point better. The eaglet fell from the nest where he was born and he found himself in a poultry. He grew among chickens eating their food and drinking their water. He saw their flight capacity and he did same as well but not at the capacity of an eagle. As a matter of fact, he thought he was a different breed of chicken. One day, while playing around, he saw someone soaring up high, the appearance of the person flying looked exactly like his. He decided to step out from that company, when he looked around up on the trees, he discovered eyries where birds of the same stature were. Not that only, he saw how they took off from their nest into the heavens. He flapped his wings with all his strength and soared up high to meet with other eagles. That was how that eaglet was restored.
That you have fallen and found yourself in the company of fallen men doesn't men you belong there. One of the secrets of rising from a fall is to change company and relate with men that are standing in their rightful place. You need to be around revived men in an atmosphere of revival to be revived. Lukewarmness and backsliding are contagious. If you stay where sin reigns and rules, the spirit of sin in that atmosphere may seduce and subdue you. The story of lot is a vivid example here. In Genesis 13:12 we were told that Lot pitched his tent near Sodom:, "Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom". Reading further in Genesis 19, we were told that Lot lived in Sodom. While living near Sodom, he gradually moved into Sodom probably because he was attracted. Little wonder why in 2Pet2:7, we were told that his righteous soul was vexed. His mind became corrupted. Company matter a lot.
You cannot be in the company of Jezebels and turn out to be an Abigail. Ahab can't be your best friend and you turn out to be a David. We all are products of influence ( positively/ negatively). From whatever height you may have fallen, never stay in the company of fallen men if you want to rise again. Just act like that eaglet who stepped out from the company of chickens so as to attain his full potential. The environment and people that makes sin thrive in your life should be totally avoided. Places and people that sap your spiritual strength should be far from you. You will rise again.
Any company that doesn't support your rising spiritually should be avoided.
