A SURE WORD OF PROPHECY

December 27, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

2Pet1: 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

It is almost a yearly practice by some prophets to reel out new year prophecies. The stock-in-trade of some ministers is to reel out fearful predictions for the new year towards end of the year or at the turn of the new year. In my home country, the publicity these prophecies have is unprecedented. Some attend special services at the turn of the year just to hear what the prophet has to say about the new year. Now, I don't have issues with prophecies as long as it is from God. However, one common factor about most of these prophecies is how it programs the mind of people to live in fear because from A-Z, it has no word of comfort. To discerning minds, some(not all) of these end of the year prophecies are permutations from current happenings. For example, you don't need a prophet to tell you that there will be bloodshed in a country where there are insurgents and terrorists. Telling me there'll be economic crisis is not a prophetic prediction because we have been in economic crisis for a long time. Inflation is at an all time high. Can you tell me something else?

Unfortunately, some believers accept these negative predictions till it becomes their reality. When the twelve spies returned from their espionage, ten gave a negative report about the obstacles ahead and how hard it would be to conquer the land. They saw giants who could trample them under feet but they never saw victory ahead. They failed to acknowledge the power of God. Their report brought fear into the hearts of others but two men who understood how God works spoke the mind of God about the possibility of taking the land. "But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”, Numbers13:30. Hallelujah!!! I refuse to live by negative predictions. At this time, many are jittery because of the things they've heard about the new year. I refuse to be jittery. Isaiah8:12 says, "Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid."

I am not against prophetic predictions as long as it is of God and not mere permutations. I believe in the more sure word of prophecy which is what is written about me in scriptures. I've seen countless spoken predictions fail but I'm yet to see God's word fail: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away"(Matthew24:35). I'll stick to the word even when it seems things aren't working until what is written becomes my reality. My reality is not what anyone predict about the economy and security of the nation. My reality is in what God's word says. Have you found your reality in the written word of God? Start searching for it now. The moment you find it, start confessing it even in the face of contrary situations. That's how we triumph in our walk of faith.

CONFESSION: I refuse to be rule by fear. My reality is in what God's word says not in new year predictions. I am exempted from the evil to come by the power in the blood of the lamb in Jesus name.
