YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO GOD

November 22, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Psalms 8:4 What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? NLT

I have battled condemnation and guilt in the past. It was so bad I slipped into depression. One of the several things the devil did was to make me feel unimportant to God. Those days, anytime I'm in church and a word of knowledge comes, I always expected the preacher to mention my case to prove that God knows my name and hasn't forgotten me. Have you been there? On several occasions, during a prophetic ministration, the preacher may point at someone and call the person out. Deep in my heart, I wondered why God would call out one person in the crowd and neglect me. These things gave me serious concern many years ago. For me, i attached so much importance to such dramatic encounters as proofs of being loved by God. The devil knew I lacked the understanding of how important I was to God and he played on my emotions and feelings. On several occasions, I felt i was neglected by God.

To start with, physical happenings like names&cases being mentioned in a prophetic ministration doesn't validate God's love to us. How important we are to God is not also dependent on how we feel. As a matter of fact, you can't 'feel' God's love you're expected to sense it because feelings are fickle and could be triggered by several internal and external factors. Moreso, God doesn't exist in sense realm of touch and feelings, He is Spirit, John 4:24. You need faith to connect with Him. You need to settle this truth in your heart that you're very important to God regardless of how you feel. The Psalmist saw how important mankind is to God, he said: "what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? YET YOU MADE THEM ONLY A LITTLE LOWER THAN GOD AND CROWNED THEM WITH GLORY AND HONOR", Psalms 8:4-5 NLT. Wow! After the Godhead, man is next in rank not even angels. You are greater than angels.

The day you start seeing yourself the way God sees you as written in His word, you will be free from self-pity, guilt and condemnation. You're so important to God to the point where He gave up His only begotten son to die for your redemption, John 3:16. If you were the only one on earth, that won't stop God from sending Jesus to die for you. Hallelujah!!! Quit self-pity. Prophet Isaiah underscore your importance to God by revealing God's mind about you: “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins", Isaiah49:15-16,NLT. Though He was talking to Israel but it applies to every believer in Christ because we now share in the common wealth of Israel through redemption. Glory! The devil will attack us from the sense realm through our thoughts because he want to hinder our fellowship with the father and block us from receiving what belongs to us by faith. The moment you start doubting your importance to God, you block answers to your prayers*. The devil will always try to make you feel unimportant, if you stay with him in the realm of reasoning, he'll deal with you but if you stick to what God has said about you in His word, you'll triumph.

CONFESSION: Father I thank you for loving me. I now know I'm important because your word say so. I reject guilt and condemnation.
