WHEN GOD SEND A REMINDER

In 2009 after I finished my final exams in the university, I stayed back in school awaiting project defense. During that period, I engaged in a personal retreat. During that period, God revealed certain things to me about my life and ministry. It was clear and direct with confirmation. More so, the instructions were specific. Years down the line, I've had several reminders from God. On one occasion during my service year, I entered the bank to transact on behalf of the fellowship when we wanted to purchase our bus. When I entered the bank, in my mind, I began to fantasize about working in the bank after National youth service. It was as though something came over me and I just loved all I saw. That moment, ministry was not considered but banking. When I got to the counter where I wanted to transact, I signed the paper and did all that was required. The man looked at me and said, "when you finish your NYSC, don't consider working in a bank, face your ministry". Wow! That was direct. He didn't know what was on my mind when I entered the banking hall but God spoke through him to remind me about my ministry.

There was another occasion where a man of God who lived across the seas called to remind me about some of the specific instruction I received in 2009. I didn't discuss that vital aspect with him but God told him to remind me. Why does God send us reminder? There are several reasons for that. As humans, we have the tendencies to deviate from the specifics of God's instruction for our lives and be carried away. God, in His omniscience knowing our tendencies to deviate and be carried away by things that aren't necessary, He will send a reminder.

Another reason for divine reminders is to alert you about what ought to be done before time. There are instructions that requires certain preparation. When God sees that we are complacent about the preparatory phase, He may send us a reminder to wake us up so that we can prepare for the task ahead. If you don't want to risk forgetfulness, deviation and complacency about God's instruction to you, journal your dealings with God. You must have a book where instructions&revelations given by God are written and properly documented. Keep the book close to where you can have access to it from time to time. This is what helped Daniel to pray for Israel's independence(Daniel 9) from Babylonian captivity when it was almost time. He read from the book of prophet Jeremiah(25:11-13) that the time of their captivity was 70 years. Daniel prayed because Jeremiah's revelations were written. You can't pray effectively about certain instructions except they are well documented for reference purposes.

Action point

Why do you think God is constantly reminding you about that specific instruction? If you don't have a journal of your dealings with God, get one and start documenting every instruction received from God.
