OVERCOMING THE POWERS OF THIS AGE. Pt.4

SPIRIT OF DIVINATION

One of our ministry associates told me about a prophet who visited his former residence. The man had clients who were into internet fraud in that area. This man was their personal prophet; in one of his visits, he told him certain things about his life of which they were accurate. Later, this prophet told him certain things about his future. However, he was wise to know that this prophet was not operating by the Spirit of God. In contrast to lying spirit, there's another demon that can predict accurately and speak truthfully about hidden things. This spirit is called the spirit of divination. This is the spirit behind the prophetic accuracy of some prophets. It is the same spirit that work with fetish priests&diviners. They'll tell you your phone number, what you ate, your address, etc just to prove to you they're seeing correctly. Before you talk, they may tell you your problems. Have you seen this before?

The slave girl in Acts 16 operated by this demon. What she said about Paul and Silas was true: "...These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation",Acts 16:17 KJV. She predicted accurately. If it were today, some preachers may ordain her as a minister in church. The next they'll tell her is, "do you know you have a call into ministry"? Apostle Paul, being a man of the Spirit knew something was out of place. He rebuked the demon speaking through that girl: "And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour", Acts 16:18 KJV. Hallelujah!!! We need to be discerning like Paul. There are many of such persons around today who need the kind of ministration Paul did on the slave girl.

Dearest, don't let accuracy of prediction freak you. Accuracy of prophetic prediction is not the proof of a genuine call into ministry. The hearts of many have been captured by this but often they end in error. When those diviners see things supernaturally, the prescribed solution is often against scriptures. That's why we have people going to the river to bath, buying prayer soap and water, and engaging in other extra biblical practices all because a prophet saw accurately and they feel they owe him obedience to instructions. We are not saying there are no genuine predictions by the Holy Spirit, there are but we need not seek after predictions but after Jesus through prayer and the word of God. Those that truthfully seek after Jesus will never fall into wrong hands. Most times, people are trapped in error because they're seeking the miraculous, someone to predict the future and tell them hidden things. When your pursuit of God is pure and with the right heart, you'll not fall into error.
