Psalms 62:11 God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you; NLT

THE NEED TO BE CURRENT WITH GOD
When it comes to matters of divine instruction and revelation, we need to be current with God. All believers must understand the dynamics of divine revelation and how it works. I'll explain what I mean by "being current with God" using the story of Abraham and Isaac. In Genesis 22:2, God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. It was God that spoke not devil. In obedience to that instruction, Abraham set out for mount Moriah the next day with the aim of sacrificing Isaac that very day all because God instructed him. Reading that chapter downward to verse 12, God gave a counter instruction saying, "Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son".

Do you know that if Abraham wasn't sensitive to hear the latter instruction, he would have sacrificed Isaac in obedience to the first instruction not knowing that God was only testing him to know his heart. Abraham was current with God to know the first and latter instruction. Some believers are acting on stale instructions whose lifespan is over. Truly, they heard God about what they're doing presently but the time set for it is over. God is expecting them to hear the next instruction and move on. Many are not current with God in matters of leading & instruction. Sometimes, we stay put on an instruction that is to last for a time before moving to the next phase. Certain programs have outlived its usefulness but we're still doing it because of the popularity it has gained. Sometimes, we fail to realize that God wants to be progressive with us. This is the problem with most believers.

Bishop David Oyedepo told the story of how God led him to plant a church in Kaduna. After sometime, he moved to Lagos and from there to Ota in Ogun state by the leading of the Spirit. Same God leading him to different places. If he had stayed in his first station without progressing with God to the next destination, he may have placed a limit on his ministry. I've heard about ministry set men who resigned from the ministry God put them over as the set man because of another assignment God has for them. Some would have stayed with the church as if it is their property claiming they received from God to start the church whereas God has moved on but they're left behind in the scheme of things. It is dangerous for you stay on instructions that has expired or run out its course. You may think you're making progress but you're just in one phase. Move with God and be current with Him.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to be current with you in Jesus name.
