Proverbs 2:11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
When I was a teenager, I had serious issues with bed wetting. It was so embarrassing because I could hardly travel for holidays. All my younger ones had stopped bed wetting some as far back as when they were in primary school. I tried my best but nothing worked. One of my uncles resolved to caning me whenever I wet the bed but it didn't work. Some persons told me to urinate in the local stove at night so that I'll feel a burning sensation whenever I want to bed wet at night. All these didn't work. My mum thought it was a spiritual problem. She organized deliverance for me. She engaged a pastor who was fond of going to the prayer mountain to pray. Probably the mountain anointing will chase the demon of bed wetting away. Alas! The vigil we held to fight this demon became a sleeping vigil. We slept from around after 12 midnight and woke up around after 4am thanking God for answered prayers.
My bed wetting took a different dimension after that prayer session. Those days, I sometimes wet the bed during the short sleep after vigil. My dad observed that my major challenge was that I sleep so deep to the point where I don't have the consciousness of waking at night to ease myself when pressed. He withdrew me from my room, got me a mat and I began to sleep on the floor of his room. He sacrificed sweet sleep and was waking me up at intervals to urinate. The purpose of proximity was to instill discipline in me. After several weeks of staying with him in his room, i stopped bed wetting. I became accustomed to waking at night to urinate. Till date, my body is use to waking up at certain times of the night. God answer prayers but sometimes, He requires we take some steps and do certain things to get the desired solution. As believers, prayer is our default mode, I'm not downplaying prayer.
However, God expects we take practical step to solve certain problems after prayer. I've been part of a prayer meeting where we were praying for the healing of a brother who had painful hernia. Instead of us to take him to the hospital, we prayed till he died. Foolishness or wisdom? I always tell those around me that if prayer alone can change our nation, we should be the best nation on earth. Alas! We are worse off than atheistic societies. Obviously, there's something we're not doing right. Look at what the bible says in Proverbs 14:34: “RIGHTEOUSNESS( doing the right thing at all levels) exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people”. God will not come down to do "righteousness" for us. It is ours to do. The problem some persons are fasting and praying about may just require a change of habit and attitude. A single lady who hang around a brother that is not committed to her in a marital relationship may give the wrong impression to brothers who might be interested in her for marriage. If such a sister isn't careful, she may spend donkey years praying to be married. The indecent dressing of some ladies is making them attract indecent men yet they think it is a spiritual problem while some sisters dress shabbily like mothers of 3 children, all they attract are aged men/ widowers who want to take them in as second wife. As funny as it may sound, some attribute all these problems to demons. When you're passing through a challenge, God expect you to do a sincere analysis of the problem to be sure you're not defaulting on your part. God is faithful and He will never fail in His own part but we often fail in ours always pushing all on Him. Don't try to solve a problem through fasting&prayer what application of common sense or discipline can solve*.
I receive grace to know and to apply the right solution to my challenges in Jesus name.
