LET'S CONSIDER JOB'S LIFE Pt.4

Job1: 22 In spite of everything, Job did not sin or accuse God of doing wrong( CEV).

HIS ATTITUDE IN WAITING.

One of the hardest thing to do in our walk with God is to wait for the fulfilment of His promises. Waiting is not easy especially when there are short cuts and alternatives.

At 75, God spoke to Abram about being the father of nations and led him out from among his people to a promised land. The pictures God painted seemed like something that will happen quickly. He waited but in the process of waiting, he found an alternative in Hagar and gave birth to trouble- Ishmael. God told him Ishmael wasn't the promised child. The generation of Ishmael are the troublers of Israel till date.

If you step out of God's waiting line into alternative line, you attract trouble that may last a life time or even outlive you. Abraham waited more till he was 100 years before the promised child came. Sincerely, that was not easy.

What makes waiting hard are the ungodly alternatives that present itself to us as the easy way out.

Job could have sought for ungodly alternatives during his ordeal, he could have cursed God and take sides with the devil but he said: "If a man die, shall he live again? ALL THE DAYS OF MY APPOINTED TIME WILL I WAIT, till my change come"(Job14:14). This is profound.

Job knew there was an appointed time for his change, he had a sense of timing so he concluded he would wait.

Your troubles days have an appointed time for expiry. Are you truly waiting or wandering? Some have misconstrued the faith message to mean getting instant result.

That you don't get instant result doesn't mean you lack faith. If it is so, then Abraham lacked faith but we know that it is not true. In fact, in all the years of his waiting, he waited in faith.

Faith and patience in waiting work together: "that ye be not slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Heb6:12). True faith will wait for the promise.

While waiting, learn the lessons God want you to learn. Your waiting time should not be a wasted time. You must possess the attitude of a learner during your waiting period.

The crucible of suffering is a tool for preparing us for greater task and glory but only those who learn during suffering will partake in the glory that will come after.

As you wait, don't be bitter with those who hurt you or those who possess your desired promise or testimony. For example, if you're waiting on God for the fruit of the womb, be happy with every woman who deliver of a baby, buy them gifts and be part of the ceremony. Don't stop attending weddings because you're not married. The devil often uses such attitude to make singles bitter through the back door.

Bitterness will prolong your waiting days in the wilderness of suffering. Shake it off.

Action point

Father I thank you for teaching me to have the right attitude in and through life's challenges. I receive grace to wait for my appointed time of change in Jesus name.
