Psalm 35:27 *Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant*
*GOD'S PROSPERITY SYSTEMS* (A)
In previous teachings, we have established that there is nothing in scriptures called prosperity gospel. Also, we examined the extremes preached by purveyors of prosperity gospel from a biblical stand point.
However, one thing I have never ceased to emphasize is that the prosperity of God's children is His delight. God is happy when we prosper righteously without stealing or manipulating people. He loves righteous wealth, devoid of schemes. Blessing righteous labour is His stock-in-trade.
Proverbs 10:22 says, *"The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it*"( NIV).
The scripture above is clear and it reveals God's power and ability to make a man wealthy. Someone may ask, since you say there is no prosperity gospel, where does prosperity stand in our gospel since there are scriptures that talks about it?
The answer to that question is simple. Prosperity, like healing, deliverance, etc are all in the same category. They are bye products of seeking God's kingdom. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33?
*"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you*".
Prosperity is one of "these things" God can add to the life of anyone who seeks the kingdom not those who make pursuit of wealth their prime pursuit. What prosperity gospel emphasizes is pursuit of wealth but a balanced message emphasizes the pursuit of God's kingdom.
God delights in our prosperity. I can say that a million times. We cannot do His work here on earth without resources because Christ used earthly resources to execute ministry in his days( Lk8:1-4). There is a kind of prosperity God desires for us.
The psalmist(35:27) says, *"Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, WHICH HATH PLEASURE IN THE PROSPERITY OF HIS SERVANT*".
Another version used "welfare" instead of "prosperity". The Hebrew word "Shalom" is translated as prosperity. Now, most of us simply know 'shalom' as peace but that is just a part of the meaning. The word 'shalom' conveys a tripartite meaning which are: peace, wholeness and prosperity.
In God's prosperity plan, He doesn't just want you to have wealth but accompanied by peace and wholeness. This is His plan for us If we seek His kingdom and allow him to add the other things.
Father, I thank you because your plan for me is a good one. Lord, I submit my life to your will and to the pursuit of your kingdom in Jesus name. Amen
