2 Timothy 4:18. *And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve [me] unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen*.
One of the purposes of revelation either through word of knowledge, word of wisdom, dreams, trance, or vision is to redeem and rescue not to scare. When God reveals, preseevation is what he has in mind not doom.
In the old testaments, some of the prophecies of pending doom and judgement concerning Israel were not absolute, rather, they were consequences of their sinful actions. Meaning that If the people had repented of their sins, God would have reversed judgement. Jonah's prophecy is a case in point( Jonah 3).
God doesn't intend to scare us with revelations but to preserve us. Let me share this personal story. In one of the village outreaches we held, during prayer, a team member gave a word of knowledge that we should pray against food poisoning. I did not take it serious though I prayed.
Days after, the woman whose house we stayed, a villager, served me hot tea and put bread on it. I decided I will take my tea after bathing. I left the tea in the room and dashed to the bathroom.
While in the bathroom, I had a strong impression within me about the tea and it was as though someone was telling me that the tea was poisoned and the tea will pour away when I attempt to drink it. That was the sign. I discarded it as one of those funny or random thoughts.
When I returned to the room, I positioned myself properly on the mat to drink my tea and eat the bread. Mistakenly, my body made contact with the tea cup and it poured on the mat. My trouser became wet. Immediately, I remembered what transpired in the bathroom.
When I discussed the incident with the team member who gave the word of knowledge, he told me he sensed it wasn't a poison to kill but to weaken me spiritually as the team lead. God reveals to redeem and rescue not to scare us.
There are poisons that can make one blank spiritually. That's what witches do, especially with gifts and sex. Personally, I believe that was what the enemy planned for me in that village but the Lord preserved me through revelation.
For a Spirit filled believer, some thoughts you call random thoughts may just be the Spirit's way of notifying you about something you need to pay attention to. That's why we have him but when he is talking to us, it is either we are insensitive to him or we trivialize his instructions.
Pay attention to repeated thoughts or deep impressions on your heart that seems to come from the blues. Not all of such thoughts are 'random thoughts' as we call it. They might be God's way of calling your attention to what the enemy is planning. The purpose of such is to redeem and rescue you.
We need to learn of the Spirit so that we can benefit from our relationship with him.
Father, I thank you for the indwelling presence of the Spirit to guide and lead me every step of the way. I receive the grace to remain sensitive to his promptings in the name of Jesus Christ.
