GOD'S SILENT AUDITION

Proverbs 21:2 A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart.

I watched the audition for a music competition recently. Contestants were chosen and allowed to proceed to the next round based on the quality of their performance and presentation. In movie auditions, those intending to act would be given an impromptu role to play. If they perform well, they'll be given a role to play. The purpose of any audition program is to check if the contestants are fit for the intended role. Do you know God conducts audition program for his children unknown to us? I was in a ministers meeting years back. A word of knowledge came openly for a pastor who was frustrated with the poor growth of his church despite his labours. The Lord said that he was passing through a test in ministry and that he had passed. He passed through a rough phase not knowing it was an audition phase that will determine his next level.

From the story of David and the events that led to his choice as the king of Israel, l concluded that God conduct silent audition program for his children and he gives a score card. When prophet Samuel received the instruction to go anoint a king in the house of Jesse, the brothers of David came forward to be anointed but the Lord rejected them for kingship: "But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”, 1Sam16:7. I want you to note the tense of the word "rejected". It is rendered in past tense. The implication of that is clear, God already rejected the brothers of David for kingship even before the day of physical audition. Unknown to them, God had accessed them, weighed their hearts and reached a conclusion on how far they can go even before Samuel came. Only God knows what He saw in their lives that made them all to be rejected. Surprisingly, David, the shepherd boy passed his audition tests in the wilderness while tending sheep's and fighting wild animals. God saw how he led animals well before allowing him to lead humans.

Dearest, God is conducting His audition unknown to us. A day will come when a man is needed to occupy a crucial place in the grand plan of God and men with great CV would be rejected because they failed God's silent audition. As we live our lives daily, we should be conscious and mindful of the fact that God is watching our actions and inactions. He is weighing our thoughts and checking our attitudes before assigning task to us in destiny. Sometimes, when we see certain persons doing certain things for the Lord and the extent to which God's hand is upon them, we often think it is because they can pray and fast. While prayer and fasting is good, there other things God may have used as a criteria before allowing the weight of His glory rest on them in an unusual dimension. When God is conducting his audition, it is often done unannounced but the result is evident to all. He watches for the things we deem as "little" or "trivial" to reach a conclusion. I read in an article about a preacher that was given the healing anointing because he obeyed the instruction to help his wife in the kitchen. Live in the consciousness of the fact that God is watching the little things you do to audition you for roles to play in His agenda.
