WE LIED
Psalms101:7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
In 2011, I was in a group of fellowship leaders who went for a retreat in Jos. It is safe to say all of were pastors. Each of us served in different stations across the country. After our meeting in Jos. We wanted to get a direct bus to our various stations but our timing to the park was late. We decided to break our journey. We boarded a vehicle in Jos that was meant to go to Markurdi but we wanted to go to Enugu. When we told the driver that our intention was to get to Enugu that day so that we can connect to our various destinations. He told us that he would lie at the gate of the park that he was taking us to Markurdi because Enugu was not his route and that we should nod or respond affirmatively. We all agreed silently.
Eventually, when he drove out of the gate, one of the motor park managers at the gate asked where he was going, he said Makurdi and the rest of us acquiesced. Just after we drove past Otukpo, a town after Makurdi, we had a flat tyre. We couldn't go further because the road was bad. We slept over in Otukpo that night. The next day, as we moved, we had another flat tyre. We changed it and moved on. After some hours, we had two flat tyres again. The driver changed it. As were were approaching Enugu, the gear stopped working. It dawned on all of us that we laid the foundation of our journey on lies and that was why it was a tumultuous journey. The trouble started after we left Markurdi which was the place we lied we were going. Getting to Enugu became a problem. We all repented and moved on.
When you lay the foundation of anything on lies, it will crumble. Lies makes the journey of life slow and boring. The lies we told in that journey gave the devil a foothold to delay our our journey. Same applies to the journey of life. A liar can't go far with God, never. If you lay the foundation of your marriage with lies, it may not last. If you have lied consistently to sustain a thing, go make your way right or else, you'll tell more lies. Albeit, do it as led by the Spirit, prayerfully and with quality counsel. Stop giving the devil a foothold in your life neither should you give him what he can use to accuse you. Jesus said, "I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world (Satan) is coming. And he has no claim on Me [no power over Me nor anything that he can use against Me];", John14:30.
Father, I receive the grace to be truthful in my walk and dealings in Jesus name
