LESSONS FROM A SHEEP-HERD 2.

July 13, 2013 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers:....1Sam 16:13a

So David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper and took the things and went as Jesse had commanded him.. 17:20

We had looked at how Davids faithfulness was a key ingredient in his journey to destiny.

However, another major ingredient is submission and humility. They go together.

From the verses highlighted, David had already been anointed king over Israel by the only person who could do that at the time. Prophet Samuel. So he could actually lead a rebellion or a coup d'etat as the case may be.

But we see he remained submissive to his father and carried out instructions and assignment properly. He did not get angry or remind his father he was the next king of israel. He followed instructions.

His submission to his father to be an errand boy to carry food to the battle was the necessary key to his fulfilling destiny in killing Goliath.

God gives grace to the humble.James 4:6

If David had complained and refused to go to the battle and decided to stay with the sheep and sent the keeper he employed in verse 20, well you know the what could have happened.

In life, our submission PER TIME to instituted authority and instructions may well be our stepping stones into the full counsel of God's will.

Action point

Let's be obedient and submissive to present authorities over us. They may be part of God's full counsel for our lives. No shortcut to destiny. See less
