2Kings2:15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

DISCIPLED TO PRAY

Severally, I have recounted how God use Bro Joshua Ojewunmi to fan into flames the spirit of prayer in my life. It was an experience I will never forget in my life.

While in the university, 200 level to be precise, brother Joshua Ojewunmi decided to engage me in prayer every night for a minimum of one hour. We met by the roadside in front of his hostel at night for prayers.

When we started, it was as If he was pestering me because the flesh wasn't willing to pray. However, I took it upon myself to ensure that I join him at the prayer spot every night.

I didn't know God was using him to disciple me along that line. I have seen some of the manifestations of those prayers we prayed then. Those prayer sessions were deep. We prayed about our present and future then. Those years, we sought to know God's mind for our lives and ministry.

It got to a point where I became more interested in that prayer than he was. At the beginning, he was the one sending for me but later I began to remind him to join me on the spot where we normally meet. A special grace to pray extensively rubbed on me.

If you associate with praying men closely, the mantle of prayer will fall on you. In my early years as a believer, our church evangelist would camp us somewhere for 2-3 days for prayer retreat. God used those experiences to transfer something into me. That's part of the benefits of discipleship.

If you're struggling with your prayer life, look for someone whose prayer altar is on fire. Take the coal of fire from his altar to ignite yours.

Stop walking with people that are lukewarm. It can rub on you. It is not a bad idea to be so close to that person you know can help ignite the flames that is about to quench. Who you follow determines what will follow you.

Apostle Ayo Babalola ignited the prayer altar of his associates by taking them to the mountain to pray regularly. After his demise, his disciples became prayer champions. Some of them prayer down the raw power of God.

In the kingdom, we learn and grow by associating with the right persons. Look around, prayerfully spot a revived brother or sister, tell the person to find time for you so that you both can be praying together. As you do that, the flames of your prayer life will be ignited. If you put your heart to it, you'll grow to start praying independently.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to locate and associate with those that would boost my prayer life In Jesus name.
