BATTLING THE SPIRIT OF RELIGION
A religious spirit is a demon that opposes the sacrifice of Christ in our lives and pushes us to do extreme things as a substitute for Christ's finished work on the cross. This spirit makes people feel salvation by grace is too simple to be a means of coming to Jesus.
This spirit makes people feel grace is a licence to sin, whereas it is not.
The Pharisees had this spirit working full blast in them&that was why they had a lot of issues with Jesus. They castigated Jesus for eating with sinners&the case of the adulterous woman that got a pardon didn't go down well with them because religious spirit prefers hot judgement to mercy.
God wants relationship with us rather than religion. That was what Jesus came to introduce to us, the Mosaic generation had religion, the new creation walks by the Spirit which is a product of relationship.
