Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap ( KJV).
I have come across persons with toxic entitlement mentality. They have a view that they must reap where they sow. For instance, when they help people, they do with the hope of getting same favour in return from the very person they help.
When this expectation is not met, they become bitter and angry. In sadness, such persons mention people whom they have helped, their sacrifice on people they have rendered some assistance in the past and how those persons couldn't come to their rescue in their low moments. I know it hurts but we must not fail to realize that God is our helper not men.
Preachers are not exempted from this. I have seen preachers lament about how they sacrificed so much for their members but such members couldn't reciprocate their gestures. They forgot them. Truly, some ministers are victims of ungrateful people but that shouldn't stop us from discharging the duties of our calling.
This sad experience has made some persons to become transactional whenever they want to render assistance including some preachers while some have decided not to help again. These are totally unbiblical. We are commanded to do good at all times.
Long ago, I made a decision that I will never look back on my acts of kindness in expectation of a return from those I help. It has saved me alot of heartaches and disappointments. When I render help, I simply do it because it is the right thing to do and for God's sake.
You know why? Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that HE IS A REWARDER of those who diligently seek Him". My reward comes from God not man.
No matter what the situation is, according to the opening text, the bible did not say we'll reap where we sow. The scripture only promises that we'll reap what we sow not necessarily from where we sow it.
When you sow seeds of help, prayer, money, love and kindness into the lives of people, just expect the harvest from wherever God wills but not necessarily from the persons you sow into their lives.
Your duty is to sow. Be rest assured that harvest will come. It is God that determines where your harvest will come from. Keep sowing, do not be tired. At the right time, God will send the harvest from wherever He wills. Keep sowing.
Quit entitlement thinking. Keeping sowing good seeds and trust God for the harvest from wherever He wills.
