DO THESE TO YOUR MINISTER OFTEN Pt.2
1 Thess5:25 Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us.
PRAY FOR US
One afternoon, I received a call from a brother in the Lord in far away Abuja. I was in the salon when the call came. He said, "I just finished praying for you and the Lord said..." I was glad that someone somewhere remembered me in prayers even to the point where God gave him a word for me. That afternoon was special because the call and what was said didn't leave me on time. That was a radical departure from the usual calls I often receive from people to pray for them. At other times, I've met brethren who ask me, "Are you praying for me"? Some throw such questions at ministers as though they employed them as a prayer contractor.
Apostle Paul, the greatest Apostle ( in my judgement), as spiritual, anointed and insightful as he was, he solicited for prayers saying, "Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us" ( 1Thess5:25). He wasn't proud to ask for prayers. He didn't see himself as superhuman, he understood what it is to be a man before the phrase "Of God" comes in. Every 'Man of God' is first a "man". He is subject to temptations and trials of life. If he doesn't receive adequate prayer support and mercy from the Lord, what consumes men may consume him. In your sojourn on earth, you must have seen preachers with challenges( broken homes, illness, wayward children, dwindling finances, threat to life, etc) that are not uncommon to their church members and even unbelievers.
We face spiritual battles as you do, including our wives and children. I once ministered to a missionary's wife who was attacked spiritually. She couldn't walk. If the church had raised corporate and individual prayer altar in homes for that pastor's wife, maybe the enemy wouldn't have succeeded. Unfortunately, there are church folks who desire the death of their Pastor's wife so that they can step into her shoes. I pity such ladies. Instead of criticizing preachers or your Pastor on things you know nothing about, why not employ yourself as his personal intercessor? The fact that you're cool with gossips about the scandals of preachers shows that you're not praying enough for them. You won't gossip about those you're praying for. I'm yet to see a successful minister of the Gospel who doesn't have prayer support from those he minister to. They may not announce themselves as prayer partners ( prayer labour is a secret labour any way) but their impact is felt visibly. I desire to have thousands who will lift up my family and ministry in prayers on daily basis. I desire family altars where ministers are prayed for. We need your prayer support just we pray for you without ceasing.
Lift up your pastor and those you know in ministry in prayers. Pray for them as the Spirit leads.
