1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.

WORKING OUT YOUR SANTIFICATION(B)

The bible is complete. There is nothing God commands that He hasn't given the grace to accomplish. Apostle John says, "Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome"(1 John5:4). God speaking through apostle Paul instructed us to do another thing so as to live a sanctified life. In Romans 6:13, he says, "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but YIELD YOURSELVES UNTO GOD, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God"( Romans6:13). Paul didn't say that we should pray to yield ourselves to God or scream to yield ourselves. He gave the instruction to the believer in Christ as something he should do. His responsibility.

What does it mean to yield anyway? The word yield is from the Greek "Paristemi". It means to present something. In context, Paul was saying we should present ourselves unto God. This expression is akin to what we read in Romans 12:1 saying, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service". The secret of sanctification revealed here is that as long as we present our members to God in total surrender, we'll live above sin and the world. The intention of presenting a thing to another is not to take it back. Rather, it is to give that thing away. The receiver decides what to do with what he has received.

You have to present your life and body at the cross to live a sanctified life. The man that present himself at the cross is a dead man: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20 KJV). When you stop living your life and you start living His, that's when the beauty of sanctification will be seen in your life. The crucified life is a life that has been presented to God. It is a position or state of the heart whereby we don't allow the impulses of the flesh to rule us rather, we yield to the leading of the Spirit. We present ourselves unto God by feeding the spirit and starving the flesh. That's how the flesh is crucified. It is a practical thing. If you have struggles with your flesh sexually, check what feeds lust and cut off from it. That's how to crucify the flesh. You can pray from now till kingdom comes, until you do the needful, prayer remains a mere religious exercise. A sanctified life is possible if we yield our total being unto God.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to yield my self to you in Jesus name.
