LOVING YOURSELF Pt.8

Proverbs13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. NLT

WALK WITH THE RIGHT COMPANY

One of the signs of healthy self love is to walk with the right person. Someone said that if you walk with five wise men, you're the sixth, if you walk with five focused and purpose driven men, you're the sixth. While that may not be true all the time, the person who said that was only trying to show how important it is to walk with the right company. When you see a spiritual person, check his company, you'll see likeminds around him. The Psalmist said, "I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers."( Psalms 26:4).

Your company will determine what will accompany you. We can tell more about your life, values, goals, vision and direction by looking at your circle of association. That is why the old grandpa's adage says, "show me your friend, and I'll tell you who you are." As a child of God on a mission, you must carefully select who your company. A wise man said, "To be productive, you have to be selective." It is not a bad idea to select people who will stir you unto good works and greatness. Toxic friends will do so much harm to you.

In 1Cor15:53, Apostle Paul said, 'Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character" (NIV). One truth we must not shy away from is the fact that we are all products of influence. Till our dying day, we'll always come under the influence of someone directly or indirectly. The life of Jesus influenced the disciples positively, Jonadab influenced Amnon negatively which led to his destruction(2Sam13:3). Today, you need to start auditing your company of friends. The moment you notice those with negative influence over your life, cut them off.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to walk with the right company in Jesus name.
