2Tim1:14 Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.NLT
In the early 2000s, I met a man who taught me chemistry for a short while in his tutorials. He promised to boost our G.P.A.and we rushed there. He was not a Christian and he flaunted his beliefs. One day, he got talking to us in class on a different subject aside Chemistry. He told us he was a Christian before but he began to search for the truth until he found it in another religion. What caught my attention was the fact that he belonged to a foremost conservative holiness preaching church before he deviated. One wouldn't expect someone from that circle to become who he was because of the depth of teaching the church was known for.
I looked into what may have caused such spiritual retrogression and I discovered that if he had done what Apostle Paul counseled Timothy to do, he may be standing in the faith you and i share. Probably, he may have become a preacher of the word. However, he didn't guard the truth that was entrusted to him. He was deceived to think there could be more and in the process, he was seduced into believing there's another way aside Christ. Beware of seeking for knowledge beyond what is revealed in the proper interpretation of scriptures. In 1Tim6:20, Paul warned Timothy again: "Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge.".
Do not let the devil tell you there is something more you don't know that is not revealed in the bible. That was what led some into mysticism and astra travel. In search for false knowledge and the esoteric that is not founded on scriptures, Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism claimed to have received his own bible from angel Moroni. He didn't guard the truth he once knew. He embraced errors. The truth about God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, the fundamental doctrines of the bible should be guarded more than you'll guard your house or earthly treasure. Staying in the truth of the bible and walking in it has eternal benefits. Paul said: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ."(Col2:8).
Father, I receive the grace to guard the truth in Jesus name
