I visited a couple years back, the man of the house had cancer of the liver. When I prayed with them, they drove me to the nearest bus stop. On our way, we had a flat tyre&I had to help change the tyres.
I worked myself so much that day knowing the condition of the man and his family and we got things sorted out. When I was about departing, the man gave me some money but I rejected it because I know that he has spent millions on treatment in the U.S., I didn't see that as honorarium or prophet offering. I rejected it out of a sense of compassion and ministerial ethics.
My concern was his wellness not his money. There are people who exploit people because of their condition. Their interest in people is solely on what they can get not what they can give. The scripture condemns this and enjoins us to look out for the interest of others.
- Always be on the look out for the interest of others and don't exploit people's condition to your own advantage.
