Phil2:12-13-Keep on working with fear and trembling to complete your salvation,...because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.
Kenneth E. Hagin told a story of how he wasn't in God's perfect will in ministry at the early stage, he always felt an unease within. God had to set him up for what seems like dissatisfaction on the job which led him to go find out what God really wanted him to do in earnest.
There are times in life when we think we're on the right track but God will set us up to meet with certain situations that will re-position us on the right track and place our feet in destiny. This could be a disappointment, sack, delay etc all because God is at work in you trying to make you fulfil his plan and purpose.
If you are truly submitted at heart to God, don't be afraid of missing his purpose for your life because without him, you can't fulfil your purpose in life. God is working seriously to ensure that you profit the kingdom as he has purposed in his heart. Not all your challenges are from the devil, some are permitted by God to fulfil his purpose.
