LOOK, THINK& ACT RIGHT
Prov 2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Sometimes ago, I took my wife and children out to have a nice time somewhere away from home. We visit the place once in a while because my children love the place. In that facility, there's a shopping mall, recreation facilities for adults and children, cinema and other facilities. When we got to the place, I saw a section where they wrote "Restaurant &Bar". Actually, the restaurant aspect caught my eye and I didn't bother to interpret or ponder on the word "Bar" especially what could happen in such a place in the public. More so, that's not my first time in that public facility just that up until that time, I haven't entered into that section where they wrote "Restaurant &, Bar". As we entered, the atmosphere was different from other sections in that mall.
We managed to get a seat. We tried placing our order but we couldn't because the calibre of people we saw there didn't look like us. The ladies looked like prostitutes, the guys look weird, more like internet fraudsters and the place was rowdy and loud with heavy music, the type I don't listen to. The straw that broke the camel's back was when a young lady smoked from a long pipe. I have never seen that all my life. Some guys did as well. Later, I was told that's what they call shisha. That very moment it dawned on me that I was in the wrong place with my family, myself and wifey carried our children and went to our usual eatery. When we got there, the difference was clear but where did I miss it aside not hearing from the Holy Spirit? I didn't look well and think well. I saw the inscription "Restaurant & Bar" but I didn't take my time to think about what could happen in a public bar. I assumed it was just a mere advert. The moment I saw "Bar", I should have given it a thought but I assumed it meant nothing until I entered.
Sometimes, we miss it because we assume alot and throw common sense to the bin. As they say, assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. Often, people take decisions as circumstances appear without taking time to think on what the outcome might be. Sometimes, we solve a temporary problem but create a permanent long standing problem because we fail to look, think and act right. Do you need a prophet to tell you that a man who is slapping you in courtship will turn you to a punching bag in marriage? Are you still assuming that you'll be able to cope with his/ her corrosive temper tantrums in marriage? Look at that decision you're about to make critically, think about what the outcome might be and act right. If you do this often, there are relationships you won't enter while you'll break some. There are places you will not go let alone enter. God didn't create our thinking faculties for decoration or design. He puts them there to make wise decisions*. Think so that you will not stink. Besides, don't forget that you have the mind of Christ, make good use of it at all times, it helps.
CONFESSION: I have the mind of Christ, I refuse to take the wrong decision. I will think with the mind of Christ, examine issues with the lens of the Spirit and act right in Jesus name.
