DEAL WITH CONDEMNATION AND GUILT
Heb8:12 And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” NLT
Several years ago, I opened my heart to some materials that affected me negatively. I felt condemned after reading those materials because they were filled with legalistic ideas nothing about God's grace and mercy. My past was brought to fore and I saw how guilty and helpless I was. If there's any battle I fought sternly in my life, it is the battle against condemnation and guilt. I almost ran mad because I kept hearing accusing voices and I felt condemned and unworthy of God totally. I lost the conviction about the cleansing power in the blood of Jesus and my thoughts about God's forgiving power came under intense attack of doubt and fear. I was carrying too heavy a load around. I was weakened spiritually.
Thank God for His word. My liberation came through the word of God. I read the opening text above and I took it personal. I confessed it severally till it sank into my spirit. Is the devil condemning you and taking you on a guilt trip based on your past? Simply let him know that you have been forgiven completely because God's promise is that He would forgive your shortcomings completely as long as genuine repentance is constant. I've read and heard some extreme messages about forgiveness. Some persons believe forgiveness is not easy to obtain so you have to do somethings to obtain it. I've heard those who prescribe fasting and prayer as a requirement to obtain forgiveness. While fasting and prayer is good as a spiritual exercise, I didn't see anywhere it was recommended under the new covenant as a prerequisite for forgiveness.
Proverbs28:13 says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso CONFESSETH and FORSAKETH them shall have mercy". Confession and forsaking of sins gets the job done. No need for special sacrifice. Another scripture you should not forget is 1John1:9, "But if we CONFESS our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness". When we don't believe in God's word enough, the devil will make us doubt scriptures like these and use our emotional feelings to get us. Believing God's word about your forgiveness and righteous status doesn't depend on how you feel but about His word. No matter how bad your past was, a drop of Christ's blood has a strong cleansing power. Throw the feelings of guilt away and stick to your faith in the scripture above.
CONFESSING: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, I rise above condemnation, shame and guilt. I am in God's love camp and I refuse perpetual guilt and shame In Jesus name. Amen
