POWER OF HABITS

According to online Oxford dictionary, a habit is a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. Going by this definition, we can call something a habit when it is hard to give up. Every man on the surface of the earth have cultivated one or two habits that defines them.

Habits can either be good or bad. Our focus is not on bad habits but cultivating good habits that will strengthen our walk of faith. No one amount to anything great in life without cultivating habits that makes for greatness.

If you desire to be spiritual like Billy Graham or any other father in the faith, check their habits and imitate them. Their secret is not in what you see them doing in the public but what they do consistently in the secret over the years. It takes time for a practice or action to become habitual.

Dostoyevsky says, "The second half of a man's life is made up of the habits he acquired in the first half".

Jesus Christ had certain habits he cultivated while on earth. Luke 4:16 says, "When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went AS USUAL to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures"( NLT). It was customary for him to attend synagogue meetings.

In another place, the habit of Jesus was revealed. John 18: 1-2 says, "After saying these things, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples and entered a grove of olive trees. 2 Judas, the betrayer, knew this place, because JESUS HAD OFTEN GONE THERE WITH HIS DISCIPLES"( NLT). We can't tell exactly what they did there but it is plausible that was their meeting point for fellowship

Speaking about Jesus, Mark 1:35 says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed". This a known habit of Christ.

Your growth begins the day you start cultivating healthy habits that makes for growth. Start now.
