NO SPIRITUAL FREEBIES

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Back in the days when my Christian journey started, we were motivated to empty our pocket into our heads. That golden counsel became part of me and has helped my spiritual life immensely. Those days, I practically starved myself to buy tapes and books because I desired growth.

I attended my first ministers conference at the of 17 using the little money I had on me to transport myself to and fro. I didn't know what my ministry was at then but I knew God's hands was on me. On one of the nights, on my way home, the Lord delivered me from robbers who attempted to rob. The major asset they found on me were books, jotter and bible.

Till date, that culture of buying books, paying to attend seminars and investing financially in spiritual growth is still part of me. I have more books than clothes. The impact of my investment is paying off greatly. It is one of the reasons you read me daily. I decided to invest value in myself so I can be valuable. I made that decision as a teenager. I am still on that journey and I won't stop.

Fast- forward to this present time, I am privileged to have met believers especially young people who desire to grow but aren't willing to invest their money and time into profitable things that makes for growth. If they see a seminar or training that will help their growth, they'll be asking If it is free or looking for how to get discount.

If the seminar is free, they'll ask If there'll be free food and transportation. That attitude is not the attitude of one willing to grow. If you get anything freely, just know that someone paid for it. Nothing is free even in Freetown.

Unfortunately, some of those seeking free seminars and training saved money to buy iphones. They didn't ask for discount at the iphone store, they paid and started displaying their phones.

Some sisters use wigs that can buy books that will help their destiny and shape them for their future. Painfully, nothing is upstairs. They wear expensive wigs on empty heads. Sad to say.

I don't know any person of value who has more clothes, shoes, wigs, than books. I am yet to meet one.

If you mean to grow spiritually and become someone of worth in this kingdom, you must conscioulsy invest in yourself. It will come at a cost. There is a price to pay for every rising.

Stop looking for freebies all around. Change that attitude and you'll see yourself rise steadily. The truth you need comes at a cost, buy it and do not sell it. Place a great value on growth and act on it.

Read slowly and thoughtfully: "BUY THE TRUTH, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding" (Prov 23:23).
