James4:3 And when you ask, you do not receive it, because your motives are bad; you ask for things to use for your own pleasures.
A pastor was praying for expansion in his ministry and God asked him why he wanted expansion, he couldn't give an instant answer because he knew that with much members will come more money. God saw the drive to make money in his heart so God had to correct that wrong motive in his heart.
One of the hinderances to fruitful prayers is when people ask with wrong motives. Some request are borne out of lust,jealousy and competition in a bid to outdo others. God doesn't answer such request because the motives are against his very nature.
When next you approach the throne of grace to table your request before God, let your motives be pure and kingdom-oriented, you won't sweat before you receive answers.
- God is able to give you everything you ask for but he may not do that because of wrong motives. Align your motives to his will.
