Sometime ago, I needed God's direction on an issue that affects my family. Somehow, my children knew I wouldn't go ahead on any crucial matter that affects them without seeking God's face.
One morning, we were in family devotion. My first son handled the devotional teaching that morning. As he read the devotional writings, it addressed the issue I was asking the Lord to speak about. I thought he didn't read well, so I told him to read it again. It was the same.
Then I asked him If that devotional meant anything to him. He said, "God is speaking to us about XYZ( the issue we've been praying about)". I knew it was a direct answer to our enquiries. That was how I got the answer to my enquiries from the Lord.
One reason you are not hearing God clearly is because you are not sensitive to His leading. Probably, you are expecting a thunderous voice and angelic visitation whereas has been speaking to you through simple or casual ways.
In ways we do not expect, God can speak to us. You cannot box Him. Stop expecting the spectacular start sharpening your sensitivity to know when He is speaking. Those that expect spectacular manifestations often fall victim of demonic manipulation.
Elijah thought God was in the wind,earthquake or fire but He did not hear God through those dramatic happenings but God's voice came as a gentle whisper(1 Kings 19:12).
I started writing daily devotionals when someone I adjudged "carnal" suggested what to do with my blackberry phone. As he spoke, I knew God spoke through him. I have been writing daily devotional teachings for over ten years, blessing lives all over the world.
If I had not paid attention to that devotional reading, I may have missed God that season. God is always speaking but we are the one with hearing problems. He is too faithful to leave us in the dark on any issue.
The moment your heart is open to hearing from Him, He will speak to you. Your duty is to be sensitive to know when He is speaking. Don't box God. He can speak to you through your child.
Father, my heart is open to your leading. Speak to me and let your will be done in my life in Jesus name.
