DAILY RENEWAL

June 28, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 14 views

2 Corinthians 4:16 *That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day*.NLT

Maria Woodworth-Etter was an American evangelist mightily used by God. During her time, it was on record that police men said there were no criminals in town because their cells were empty. She preached holiness down on her city and the people caught the bug. The miraculous was a regular occurence.

Towards the end of her life, she became weak bodily to a point that reduced her mobility but whenever it was time to minister, a surge of divine energy would flow through her body. She would stand up to preach and thereafter go back to her state of weakness after her ministration. Her slogan was "It is better to wear out for Jesus than to rust out for Him".

As we grow old, our bodies need proper care because the fall dealt a great blow to our bodies. We keep it healthy by faith and careful living as we eat the right food and exercise it moderately.

Despite all these, the body will grow old and wear out because of use. That is why God will give us new bodies at resurrection. The body cannot be renewed no matter the amount of surgery or make-up applied, it can only be maintained.

1 Corinthians 15: 52 says *"It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies*".

There is a part of you that can be renewed daily, that is your mind. Our inner most being can be strengthened and renewed. While the body can be maintained and still prone to wearing out, inner being can get stronger by the day.

Romans 12:2 says, *"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God*"

As good as it is to pay attention to our bodies,  it is much better to build a strong inner being and work towards renewing it daily. Why spend so much on make up, clothes but spend little time to build the core of your life?

Samson had a strong body but a weak inner man. Joseph on the other hand built a strong inner being that was why he resisted temptation and fulfilled the plan and purpose for his life and generation.

Action point

The word of God is the tool for building a strong inner man, garnished with prayer and yielding to the Spirit daily. That is how to build a strong inner man. When the body becomes weak, what will be left is the inner man you have built over time. Will it be weak or strong?
