WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE SENT

June 02, 2024 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Luke 1:80 As John grew up, God’s Spirit gave him great power. John lived in the desert until the time he was sent to the people of Israel (CEV).

I heard about a minister who had the call of God upon his life. He was in training under a senior pastor. This young minister demanded to leave before the set time of his training. His senior counseled against taking such hasty decision because it wasn't time yet but he was adamant.

Not long after, he returned as a casualty of one of his ministrations. He went somewhere to preach, as he ministered to someone under demonic influence, the lady spat on his eyes, that led to visual impairment. Thank God his sight was restored after his senior pastor prayed for him. Launching out at the wrong time can expose a man to demonic attacks.

Sometimes, we read certain verses of the bible speedily without taking into cognizance some words and phrases used. John the baptist was a child born as a result of prophecy, his future was declared by prophets of the old testament.

Prophecy pointed to him as the fore-runner of Jesus Christ yet the bible said he lived in the desert until he was sent. That's incredible.

How can a man whose destiny was declared by prophecy wait in the wilderness to be sent to fulfil the assignment he was destined to fulfil? Why should he wait? Could it be because he was not old enough to start his life's assignment?

So many questions but the answer is right there in the verse. It was clear that he was not sent because his time had not come. God uses the waiting time to prepare the called.

In Luke 3, we were told that God's word came to him in the wilderness and after that time, he began his public ministry.

Do not start a spiritual assignment until you receive a go ahead from God.

There are times God reveals or gives us a clue about what He would have us do but the time to launch out may not be immediate. There's always a waiting time of preparation before the time of manifestation.

Even Jesus who had divinity running in his blood couldn't start his ministry until the set time because He needed to prepare.

That revelation you had about God's vision for your life requires some waiting time of preparation before launching out.

Launching out against God's timing is akin to sending yourself and you'll pay dearly for it.

Action point

Be sensitive to God's timing.
