THE BURDEN OF PURITY
Recently, I met a colleague that we grew together in church choir. Both of us were drummer boys when we started out as instrumentalist.
For years, he disappeared and I didn't see him though I heard that he went wayward even to the extent of having some issues in school.
We met in an occasion and he was drunk, incoherent in speech and dull. He said he heard that I'm pastoring and I answered 'yes'. I couldn't flow with him because he was drunk and I knew he was not where he ought to be.
Satan knows every youth have a glorious future though he doesn't know the details. Sin (especially sexual immorality) is his veritable tool to pull youths away from the path of destiny. He tried it with Joseph but he failed but he succeeded with Samson. I'll rather be a Joseph than to be a Samson.
Many years ago, I know a vibrant and anointed young brother with very profound knowledge of the scriptures, he fell into sexual immorality and ended up as a smoker and an alcoholic. His life went downwards.
David knew the path of a youth is laced with destiny wrecking temptations and he gave insight on how to stay pure which is by taking heed and conforming to God's word.
As a youth, you must decide to order your life according to instructions in God's word that makes for purity. Paul gave Timothy a lot of such instructions so as to preserve his destiny.
Obeying destiny saving instructions isn't 'works' as so many think, it is pure new testament wisdom. The onus to stay pure lies with you, God has done His own part.
1John3:3 says, "And every man that hath this hope in him PURIFIETH HIMSELF, even as he is pure"( KJV).
Father, thank you for your word, I receive the grace to stay pure In Jesus name.
