Romans5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love ( NLT).
Most times, we preach about God's love to unbelievers and present the gospel to them with simplicity but once they become born again, we present God differently. The fear is that if we dwell on God's love, they may be wreckless. That can only happen if we preach an imbalanced message of love ( Rom6:1,John14:15).
Some believers have the challenge of accepting God's love. When you see someone who has not forgiven himself or herself, failure to accept God's love as revealed in the scriptures is responsible for such. If you understand the love of God, you'll stop hating yourself.
God's love is deep. That was why Paul prayed this prayer for the Ephesian believers: "And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is" (Eph3:18). He prayed this prayer for believers not unbelievers.
His prayer for Ephesian believers should be our prayer as well. Those that are struggling to accept God's love always struggle to love others.
There are many believers struggling to accept God's love because they always feel inadequate and unworthy of God every time. This is the tactics of the devil to weaken their faith.
Have you noticed that thoughts of guilt becomes stronger when you want to pray especially when you want to deal a deadly blow on the onslaught of the enemy?
The devil knows that you can wreck havoc on his kingdom If you pray that's why he's always firing the darts of condemnation into your heart.
God is for you, he is not against you. He is ensuring that you walk in his perfect will. Your duty is to cooperate with him( Phil2:12-13). You may have failed and fallen, but you should not remain in your mess because he wants to clean you up.
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool"( Isa1:18 NLT).
The point of failure is where the devil is always waiting to tell you God doesn't love you anymore. At this point, you may find yourself asking for forgiveness for the same shortcoming over and over because you feel unloved and unaccepted by God.
How you feel about yourself maybe totally wrong when compared with how God sees you. We don't walk with God by feelings but by faith. The reason why God is quick to forgive and restore is because of his love for us.
It is the devil that desires to keep you on the spot of self pity, self hatred and false guilt. Open your heart to the Holy Spirit, he'll fill your heart with God's love and make you see yourself from God's perspective.
Father, I thank you for loving me. Spirit of God, fill my heart with God's love and help me accept his love in Jesus name.
