David came to limelight after killing Goliath. No thanks to his praise singers who mocked Saul saying he killed 1000 but David killed 10 000. His fame spread everywhere. Saul could not deny the hand of God upon David. He made him a leader in his army. This is just a shepherd boy who had no military training. He did not have a special training on how to use military hardware yet he was a prolific warrior. I am sure David became the envy of everyone in Saul's army because he succeeded at everything he did without formal training. Why? The bible says, "David continued to succeed in everything he did, FOR THE LORD WAS WITH HIM" (1 Samuel 18:14 NLT). You may have seen people who are not so knowledgeable or read succeed in certain areas of their lives. I know a sister who was hawking biscuit. From there, she bought a small vehicle for biscuit distribution until she had a big store. That was possible because God was with her. In a world of success motivation and man-made stratagems, it is not uncommon for man to arrogate his success to his effort. Many are removing God from the equation of their results&exploit. There are ministers and ministries who arrogate the success of their ministries to adherence to principles. While that may be true to a large extent, there is an unseen hand that made those principles produce result. Ecclesiastes 9:1 says, "I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time"( NLT). You may know so much and fail. You may have skill and be disapointed with the outcome of events in life but it is impossible to have God with you and fail provided other factors are in place. Human effort is not enough.
