Often, I've heard some people call themselves God's favourite when they want to testify. That statement implies that some are loved less and that God gives preference to some people than others.
Making such claims is quite insensitive especially where you have people who are doubting God's love for them. Most times, when the heat is turned on, Satan makes some people think God hates them.
For instance, If you are testifying about God's goodness for giving you a child, you can leave it at that. Going further to make statements like: "I am the most loved among waiting mothers" or "I am special among those trusting God for fruit of the womb", such words might be hurting a wounded soul.
In several ways, most believers use the misfortune of others to testify about what God is doing in their lives. This is totally unacceptable and unbiblical. It doesn't glorify God in any way.
What brings glory to God is when you thank him for what he has done without making mention of the misfortunes of others.
That something good is happening to you doesn't make you God's favourite. It is God's sovereignty at work. One way or the other, life happens to us. No one passes through life without their unique challenges. That doesn't make us God's enemy.
Certain songs we sing that speaks of people dying on the route we pass through or people languishing in pain though they ate our type of food, all these are not songs from the womb of the Spirit. They are adaptations of songs from a culture of mockery and competition.
What you say when you stand in the presence of God's people matters a lot. In every gathering of saints, there's likelihood of finding someone that is mourning, crying, childless, jobless or struggling. These categories of people are in every church. Stop rubbing it on their faces in your testimony.
When you read the opening text, apostle Peter made it clear that God accepts those that fear him and do what is right. That's the finality of the scriptures on that argument. However, it should be noted that living in reverential fear of God is not an immunity against challenges of life.
Enough of people claiming to be God's favorite when their lives doesn't match-up with God's expectation of them. What God expect from you is right living.
