*RESTITUTION AND YOUR SALVATION* Pt.8

1Timothy 1:5 *Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith*.

*EXTREMES IN RESTITUTION* (a)

The number one extreme in restitution is to make it a criteria for salvation or to make it look like what will perfect our salvation. This is a dangerous extreme that nullifies the grace of God that saves.

Ephesians 2:8-9(TPT) says: "For by grace you have been saved by faith. NOTHING YOU DID COULD EVER EARN THIS SALVATION, for it was the love gift from God that brought us to Christ! [9] SO NO ONE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO BOAST, for salvation is never a reward for good works or human striving".

Let this scripture above sink into your spirit.

Your salvation is so dear to God to the extent that he made it free without your input except for you to just believe in the sacrifice of Christ. God knew you sinned badly and you could not help yourself. That was why he sent his son to help you.

Putting restitution before salvation will make you proud. You will feel you earned your salvation through your works whereas it is a gift from God. Making restitution a criteria for salvation will make you become self righteous instead of trusting in the righteousness of Christ inputed to us.

In Isaiah 64:6 (TPT) says, "We have all become contaminated with sin, and you see OUR SELF-RIGTHEOUSNESS AS NOTHING BETTER THAN A MENSTRUAL RAG. We are all like fallen leaves, and our sins sweep us away like the wind".

Preachers who make restitution a criteria for salvation are not different from Pharisees who lay heavy burden on those that want to enter the kingdom.

In Matthew 23:2, 4 (TPT) Jesus says, "The religious scholars and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat as the authorized interpreters of the Law. [4] They tie on your backs an oppressive burden of religious obligations and insist that you carry them, but will never lift a finger to help ease your load".

I have heard of cases where people abandon the faith because a preacher insisted they must restitute. That can't be the will of God. I have always known something is wrong with any demand that paints God as a task master who doesn't care.

I was once a victim of this when a brother I hold so dear told me that I must right all my wrongs. The burden of guilt fell on me immediately. It was then I knew what the line of that hymn meant: "Will you be free from the bondage of sin, there is power in the blood.."

Once restitution is taken out of scriptural context, it becomes works. The bearer becomes burdened and heavy laden. Hear

Action Point:

In Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT), Jesus is saying to you: [28] *“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis*". [29] *'Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me*". [30] *"For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear*”.
