ENGAGE THE SPIRIT

Have you ever been in a vehicle whose fuel got exhausted on the way? For those who might have experienced such, you'll agree with me how frustrating it could be when in such circumstance.

The prayer life of some believers have run out of 'fuel'. The fire on their prayer altar is dead and their prayer time seems boring and dry. For those in this category, prayer is now a religious routine instead of a fellowship.

Many believers desire to be mighty in prayer. I have seen the desire in many especially during counseling. Every now and then, people pray to become prayerful( though not bad) but they forget the source of a fruitful prayer life- HOLYSPIRIT.

If prayer is a fleshy exercise, we wouldn't need the Holy Spirit but because of its spiritual nature, we cannot but do without the Spirit of God.

Epaphras( Col4:12-13), Moses( Deut9:11-19) and Jesus Christ had the working of the Spirit of prayer in their lives.

In history, every man or woman who had a consistent virile prayer life had the indwelling of the Spirit which enabled them to pray prevailingly.

When you read the prayer exploits of men like Apostle Ayo Babalola who prayed for 72hours non-stop, do not think he did it in the flesh. Something stirred him to stay that long in God's presence and it seemed to him as though he had spent a few hours.

The Holy Spirit fuels a consistent, persistent and virile prayer life not the flesh. You can't wake up and say, 'I want to pray 72 hours non stop like Ayo Babalola did, you will wear out in no time'. You need that divine fuel.

Some of the father who prayed for days non-stop didn't set out to pray as long as they did. They surrendered to the Spirit and they were caught up in that realm. Those long hours seemed like a few minutes to them.

Paul enjoined that we pray in the Spirit: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people" (Ephesians 6:18 NIV).

Praying in the Spirit is simply praying in the power of the Spirit, by the leading of the Spirit, and according to His will. It is a situation where the Holy Spirit fuels our prayer life.

The Spirit of God is called the Spirit of grace and supplication(prayer). Trying to pray without the Spirit of prayer in your life will make you weary.

Many have become religious in their prayer life while some do not even have a prayer life at all. So bad.

Until you submit your prayer life to the Spirit and receive a fresh baptism of prayer, your prayer life cannot be consistent and fruitful.

Dearest, allow the Spirit of God take the wheel of your prayer life. He is a sweet gentle Spirit that wouldn't force himself on your life.

You need to invite him into your life right now. You cannot become mighty in prayer without the Spirit of prayer.

Action point

Holy Spirit, you're welcome into my life. Take the wheel of my prayer life and enable me to become strong and consistent in my prayer life. I receive a fresh baptism of the Spirit of prayer and supplication.
