DO YOU UNDERSTAND TWI LANGUAGE

Acts 2:4 *And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance* ( KJV).

During our recent trip to Ghana, one of my team members had an experience that I will not forget in a hurry. He was in-charge of media during the programme. One of the  Ghanian facilitators during the programme requested of him to use his camera to snap.

He showed him how to use the camera. As he climbed a rock to position himself to be snapped by this facilitator, he spoke in tongues in excitement. The facilitator asked him, "Do you understand Twi language"? He said no. Then he said, 'you just said something in Ghanian language'. He asked him to repeat the tongues again. He repeated it and interpreted it for him. The  meaning was: "The Lord is here, speak Lord".

That atmosphere must have been filled with holy fear at that moment because a Nigerian spoke in tongues, his prayer language as the Spirit gave utterance while a Ghanian understood what he said in his own language. If he had pressed further in the place of prayer, God would have spoken or revealed something  to him there because his spirit caught the signal of God's presence in that atmosphere.

That is similar to what happened on the day of pentecost when foreigners (Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judæa, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes) heard the apostles and their company praising God in their languages.

"At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. [6] When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers"( Acts 2:5-6 NLT).

One reason I believe God gives us a prayer language in  tongues that is foreign is because he doesn't want anything to tamper with our faith. You see, when we pray in our native or learned languages, our senses can interfere. Doubts can set in because we understand the content of our prayers.

However, when we pray in tongues, nothing tampers with our faith because what we are saying is beyond our comprehension. It becomes impossible for Satan to sow seeds of doubt in our hearts. That is why I believe praying in tongues is one of the most accurate ways of praying.

Jude expressed this truth by saying, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost"( Jude 1:20).

Brethren, I want you to cultivate the habit of setting aside a time daily to pray in tongues. It will make you keen and sensitive to the things of the Spirit. It opens you up to the supernatural in a dimension unimaginable.

Action Point:

If you need a group of believers you can pray with in tongues daily, you can join other believers on our whatsapp group who pray in tongues for one hour daily between the hours of 9pm-10pm, Nigerian time.
