Rev1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet
Many years ago as an undergraduate, towards the end of my final year in school, i was considering entering into a relationship. I was confused a bit because there were two sisters that caught my attention. One was very spiritual and everybody thought she was for me. In fact, some of the fellowship executives already match-made us in their minds. Sincerely, i like that sister. She was very virtuous and every right thinking brother with a ministerial calling would want to settle down with her. She was a 'mummy in the Lord' in the making.
On the other hand, the second sister was pretty and had a nice body built. She was okay and marriageable. At least, she was brought up properly. Don't tell me i wasn't confused, truly i was but i knew there was a place for divine direction because i decided that the flesh wouldn't influence my decision. I decided to fast constantly to silence the voice of the flesh and i was glued to the word. Concerning the first sister, I had a vision(maybe trance but my senses were suspended for some minutes)that settled the matter and i heard God while walking on the road concerning the second lady, so i dropped the idea of relationship. I didn't want to let go the first sister because i began to doubt if it was truly God that showed me the vision, as i studied my bible in the midnight those days, about three scriptures rebuked my disobedience. It was as if my name was attached to those scriptures for rebuke.
If you want to hear God speak to you in clear terms, align yourself properly in the place of the word, prayer, fasting and sanctified living. That is what it means to be in the Spirit, it is a posture. John the beloved heard God's voice while he was in the Spirit on the Lord's day as written in the opening text. If you're ruled by your senses and full of carnality, you won't hear God because carnality is enmity against God. You must constantly align yourself to the Holy Ghost to hear Him. The flesh has no profit.
Father, i receive the grace to align myself properly In Jesus name.
