Another unbiblical prayer people pray is what I call "witchcraft prayers". I was discussing with some people recently about how greed and selfishness has entered our prayer lives.
I have been in prayer meetings where the prayer leader told us to pray that God should bless us more than our siblings so that they'll look up to us for everything.
I have heard prayer points that insinuated that our family members should be calling us 'daddy', they shouldn't be able to perform any family function without us. That's witchcraft and nothing more.
Well, most people love to pray such "Witchcraft" prayers because they want to prove a point to their families. Some only need plenty money so that everyone would be subservient to them. That's nonsense.
To them, that's success. Those impure motives are the reasons God hasn't answered our prayers until now.
If you're praying that you should be better than others, you will always be below them.
Thats a fact! God doesn't want you to compete with others but rather, he want the best for you and others.
If God refuses to bless your siblings and families, you won't enjoy your money because you will have to bear all their financial burdens.
In fact, If they don't fear God, they may kill you so that they'll inherit your properties. We have heard of cases like this.
A brother told me about someone who went to the mountain praying that God should ground the vehicles of the person who offended her. Isn't that witchcraft?
Many are praying those kinds of prayers today all in the name of warfare prayer. They assume the woman/ man they have an altercation with is their enemy whereas Satan is.
Even If you know your physical enemy, there's someone behind his/ her actions. That unseen enemy should be dealt with in prayers. Let God determine the judgement of the physical enemy.
The bible calls Satan our arch enemy: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" ( 1 Peter 5:8 NIV).
If your warfare prayers isn't directed towards Satan and his demons, God won't answer such prayer.
Even If you know someone who has been your opposition, Jesus didn't teach us to call down fire on them like the sons of thunder intended doing.
You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. ' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven ( Mt 5:43-45).
Many are not getting answers to their prayers because they're praying the wrong prayers and fighting the wrong person in their so called warfare prayers.
From today, eliminate wrong motives, selfishness and greed from your prayer life, you'll get better results that way. Learn to pray for others what you're praying for yourself.
The principle of watering others to be watered in return is still in effect. Water others in prayers and you'll remain ever-green.
