Hebrews10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD’S FAMILY
This year, be intentional about fellowshiping with God’s people.
Have you met people who say “church is in my heart”? Often, they make people feel they don’t need to attend a church or belong to a denominational church before they can serve God?
Such people abound in our world today. They believe they can pray on their own and God will answer them. That’s true but going to church is more than praying , it is for the purpose of fellowship. Simple!!!
Going to Church or joining others in fellowship is not a 21st century idea. It is a culture of covenant people from old testament that continued till the church age.
The Psalmists say, ‘I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD”( Psalms 122:1).
Even Jesus Christ had a custom of going to the synagogue: “When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures” (Luke 4:16 NLT).
The culture of fellowshiping with others didn’t stop with the apostles. They continued: “On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight”( Acts 20:1 NLT).
They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity (Acts 2:46 NLT).
Just as you were born into a family for nurturing and care so that you can grow so is the family of God called church. Nobody grows in isolation. The devil knows this truth that’s why he’s making you cold about church.
The church is God’s family that you cannot do without. The church is God’s plan for this age. God’s intention for this age will only find expression through the church.
You need a church where the whole counsel of God is taught without compromise. Even If you can pray on your own, you can’t teach yourself.
You need a Pastor that will teach you and ‘father’ you spiritually. You cannot experience the corporate anointing in your room except in the church.
Some people will sit at home watching television preachers and they’ll say that’s enough for them. In times of crisis, maybe you lose a loved one at old age, the t.v.preacher won’t bury the dead for you neither will he christen your baby or wed you online.
Don’t be deceived by online church system. It is not the ideal. In the physical, you didn’t grow in an online family system. Your parents did not parent you online, they had you close by, why should you surrender your spiritual growth and development to online meetings alone?
Till we see Jesus in glory, we will not outgrow belonging and identifying with God’s family.
ACTION POINT:- If you don’t belong to a church, prayerfully choose one and be committed there. If you have a church you attend, be regular and stay committed there. Don’t be a “Churchstitute”.
