Moses prayed a very profound prayer I think we all should look into. That prayer is relevant even for new testament believers because in the Pauline epistles, similar prayers were prayed by Paul.
Moses prayed asking to know the ways of God so he can understand him more fully. Now, that's not an ordinary prayer. This is not the same as the "bless me" prayer that is common today. Asking to know the ways of God is same as asking God for a deeper fellowship with him. It is a prayer of someone who desires intimacy with God.
Enoch was so intimate with God. He walked with God to a point where God couldn't afford to leave him on earth. Their conversation venue moved from earth to heaven. Abraham became intimate with God to the point where he began to have friendly talks with God and he negotiated on behalf of a people in Genesis 18.
A number of our prayers seeks to see the hand of God but the prayer of Moses seeks to know the principles behind the hand of God. Many desire the miraculous happen to them but a man who want to know God prays to know the secret behind it.
In Psalm 103:7, the bible says, "He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel".
When we know the ways of God, our relationship with him will be fruitful because it will be based on the understanding of Him that we have not what we are told about him.
When we know the ways of God, we become his confidant. He keeps secret with us. The bible says, "The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant" (Psalm 25:14).
Paul prayed, "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead"( Philipians 3:10).
