Eph1:4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. NLT
HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF IS CRUCIAL
There’s a lesson for us from the story of Gideon. An angel of God appeared to him and called him a mighty man of valour.
He looked at himself with disdain. He may have asked around who the angel was referring to. He had a very low self esteem. Heaven saw in him a liberator but he saw himself as a defeated warrior.
It took several proofs from the angel to convince him on how valiant he was. Eventually, he broke free from the mental shackles of low self-esteem and he led 300 men to war and won a vast army.
Why did he delay the deliverance of a whole nation? That was simply because of how he saw himself.
Gideon grew up knowing that his people were under the colonial powers of the Midianites and he accented to that mentally but God saw him differently.
*Once you see God and understand him from the pages of the scriptures, you need to start seeing yourself the way he sees you. One of the things that deepen emotional pain is how people see themselves*.
The way you see yourself is a vital factor in the quest for inner healing. Those that have seen hopelessness, gloom and doom can never come out of depression.
What about how people were raised and the words spoken to them in their growing years? These things matter alot. Those that grow up hearing about how stupid and dull they were may not see themselves differently in adulthood except there is a radical renewal of mind.
Some grew in an atmosphere filled with hatred. They ended up hating themselves as well. Self love is crucial and important if you will heal from your pains and hurts.
We were told to love our neighbour as we love ourselves. Before we love others, self- love comes first. You need to always look at yourself from the mirror of God’s word to form a healthy view about yourself.
Your challenges, pains and hurts shouldn’t define you, God’s word should.
CONFESSION: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, a joy to many generations. I cannot be defeated and can never be because greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.
