CONQUERING DESTRUCTIVE SEEDS Pt.1

Judges 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him. KJV

WAS DELILAH THE PROBLEM?

Anytime Samson is mentioned, Delilah comes to mind. Was Delilah the reason Samson fell? Before you answer that question, we may need to look deeper.

I noticed that Samson had been messing around with strange women before he met Delilah. Read Judges14. There was a destructive habit Samson had before he met Delilah.

His sexual escapades didn’t start with that destructive lady. He had a track record of sexual impurity even before he met Delilah.

I’m of the opinion that If he hadn’t met Delilah, his destructive habit would still have brought him down. Delilah wasn’t his problem, his destructive habit was.

The devil knew how great his destiny was and the kind of anointing he carried. The devil x-rayed his life and found a destructive seed in him and that was the seed of lust and lack of self-control which expressed itself through immorality.

What brings great men down grows with them as they journey to the top.

It is not something that jumps on them all of a sudden. The devil is always wise to spot that destructive seed in every believer.

He strive to arrange people, places and circumstances that will nurture that destructive seed to give it full expression. Paul says, “and do not give the devil a foothold” ( Eph 4:27).

Surprisingly, the devil may wait for years to get a man down but while waiting for time and season of execution, he’ll be busy planning and preparing.

No man falls suddenly. Every fall is a product of habits, character or attitude that wasn’t dealt with properly before greatness.

Anger dealt with Moses at a time he was almost getting to the promised land. If only we know the labour of Moses, we’ll see his inability to enter Canaan as a great loss.

Long before he got to that point, that destructive seed of anger was in his life. It was nurtured over time till it brought him down.

The attitude that will scatter the marriage of some persons in the future is already growing with them but they don’t know.

As a reader of this devotional, I know the Spirit of God is revealing those destructive seeds in you to you.

They may not stop your greatness but they want to bring you down from the ladder of greatness.

Deal with them now.

PRAYER: Father, let your holy fire destroy every ingredient and seed of hell in me In Jesus name.
